Several Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) bus routes service the campus.

Attention: Employees participating in the U-Pass program must update their photo ID card expiration date by June 30th to continue riding OCTA buses without charge. The U-Pass ID cards, which expire at the end of each fiscal year, must be re-encoded at either the Parking and Transportation Services office or UCItems to revalidate them through the next June 30.

This special UCI program gives you unlimited FREE access to the Orange County Transportation Authority's (OCTA) extensive bus system, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Now you can ride to and from the campus, shopping, even the beach-anywhere in Orange County FREE. U-Pass is a Joint Program of OCTA, UC Irvine's Parking and Transportation Services Office and Associated Students, UCI.

How does U-Pass Work?
With U-Pass, your encoded UCI ID is your OCTA bus pass. Just swipe your ID in the fare box while boarding and you ride FREE. That's it! You can ride every day or occasionally. U-Pass gives you unlimited free rides on OCTA buses. Just swipe your card and go!

Who can get a U-Pass?
  • All students currently enrolled in UCI classes with a current photo ID card

How do I turn my ID into a U-Pass?
Just stop by the Parking and Transportation Services Office or UC Items Photo ID Office to get the U-Pass expiration date encoded on your UCI photo ID. Once your ID is encoded, you've got a valid U-Pass. U-Pass expiration dates coincide with the end of each academic year (June 30).
